For this Friday at Club Six, we’ve asked two of the most talented and renown turntable musicians from the USA and Japan to come perform together for the first time.
If you don’t know already, Shortkut is a combination of champion sound, mad scientist, and a really nice dude, hailing from the venerable DJ collectives of the Invisible Skratch Piklz, the Beat Junkies and Triple Threat. Coming off the recent album tour for the Triple Threat DJ's (Apollo, Shorkut, Vinroc) debut album, "Many Styles", which features Rob Swift, Talib Kweli, Souls of Mischief, Mystic, and Goapele, Shortkut is joining us on Friday night to do what he loves best: rock the party.
Joining Shortkut for this party session is DJ Tonk, coming all the way out from Tokyo, Japan. As one of the biggest club DJs and hiphop producers from Japan, DJ Tonk has been absolutely killing it out in Japan (and for artists like the Cocoa Brovas and Zion I) since 1990 and is now out here in our crazy land for an international tour. He’ll be getting down with Shortkut on Friday, bringing his blend of song selectorism and turntablism for your dancing pleasure.
